Ilston's Abandoned Limestone Quarry.
The second part to walk took me to Ilston's abandoned limestone quarry, I hadn't even noticed it before my cousin pointed it out, an interesting place with very little written history. I believe that the limestone quarried here would have transported to Devon where it would have been boiled so that the lime could be used for farming.

I see you've changed your format a bit Dan. The new layout looks real good. Don't change your photo style though, they're top rung already!!
Cheers, even though I liked the larger images I think it started looking a bit sloppy.
I'm happy that the hours I spent on changing everything made a difference, I think it look a lot cleaner now.
Dan
I used to play in the old quarry at weekends with children from the village at weekends and pick wild strawberries for tea, that I note still grow in the quarry.
My grandparents lived in Ilston and I have many happy memories of childhood days spent there with the Dawson family at their bungalow. My grandfather was a professional photographer so I have quite a few of his photos of the surrounding area.
