Snow Day Walk on the Cycle Track.

With our first bit of heavy snow in years I took a walk along the Clyne Valley Cycle track from Gowerton to Dunvant, after a while it just felt like I was mindlessly taking pictures of the snow but as I only ever see it every few years I was quite enjoying myself. Hope you enjoy.

I did start researching this last year for a blog entry and was hoping to go round and photograph all the old mining building I found when I was a kid, but sadly nearly all of the building I found had been collapsed by the coal board a few years ago, bit of a shame really.

Heres a site which sort of relays the events that lead upto the closure of Killan Colliery and it names the people who died.

To be honest I think that the memorial is pretty poor and remember there was controversy when it was unveiled as the plague was more like a name plate for the councilors unveiling it and the plague was eventually replaced with whats there today, this could have been great memorial; displaying the heritage of the area and giving people an insight of how the village of Dunvant was created as without the mines I doubt that it would exist.

Thanks Chipbutty

I've been pretty tied down this year with working on the house and the arrival of my baby boy.

I'm starting to catch up writing the posts on my fishing blog which has been running several months behind since my pc burnout.

I've got a few places in mind that I hope to visit during the coming months so, hopefully I'll have another new post soon.

Take Care
Dan
