Dunvant Brickworks

One of the few remaining air vents (recently cordoned off by the mining authority and partially bricked up).
The brickworks pond.
One of the pools created from a dug out clay pit.
Remain of a building, original use unknown.
A stone wall burried in the under growth.
The remains of the brickworks
A new footpath running around the pond.
A web of dead trees sprouting from one of the flooded claypits.

Frantastic looking place - you'll have to take me there real soon.

Those shots take me back away Dan. I used to fish that pond when I was a kid, and I'm 60+ now. Nearly got stuck down that air vent. My mates and I slipped on moss in there and we slid down the shaft to the bottom doors. Scared the hell out of us!
It looks much more interesting now than it was then. Do you know about the tunnel through the cliff towards the old Dunvant railway station??

Thanks for the comment.

I remember, walking through the old railway tunnel when I was younger, it was usually flooded so I used to go home with soaking shoes and trousers :), its recently been bricked up at both ends as a effort by the council to create a bat sanctuary.

I've lived in Dunvant all my life (I'm 23) but and I used to wander around the cycle track area quite a bit. Yet I've never seen that tunnel before! I was wondering if you could tell me where abouts you took those pictures because I'd like to go and take a look myself when I have some time. I'm guessing its somewhere near the brickwork pond? Thanks!
